Military Humor
One of my husband's duties as a novice drill instructor at Fort Jackson, S.C., was to escort new recruits to the mess hall. After everyone had made it through the chow line, he sat them down and told them, "There are three rules in this mess hall: Shut up! Eat up! Get up!"

Checking to see that he had everyone's attention, he asked, "What is the first rule?" Much to the amusement of the other instructors, 60 privates yelled in unison, "Shut up, Drill Sergeant!"

From One Admiral to Another
A friend of mine is an officer in the naval reserve. A few weeks ago, he was attending a conference that included admirals in both the US and the French navies.

At a cocktail reception, my friend found himself in a small group that included an admiral from each of the two navies. The French admiral started complaining that whereas Europeans learned many languages, Americans only learned English. He then asked, "Why is it that we have to speak English in these conferences rather than French?"

Without hesitating, the American admiral replied, "Maybe it is because we arranged it so that you didn't have to learn to speak German."

SEAWOLVES TACTICAL ASSAULT TEAMS

OUR PEOPLE
General Storm CG-STAT SW, sits down with the Anchor:

Anchor Reporter: <S>Howdy General Storm. Sir, it is wonderful to see the STAT in operation again. Thank you for taking the time to share some of your thoughts regarding STAT.

First of all let me say that it is my pleasure to speak to the anchor, I really appreciate the opportunity to share my ideas with all the members. STAT is a work in progress currently, I guess you could say that we are a brand new division. As such we will treat this as if we are starting out fresh. A new web site and data base along with a new ROE is our starting point. Before the games begin it is important to get all the administrative work completed, this lays the foundation for our vision of the future. From the ground up takes time and effort but I know we can do it. We will provide frequent updates on our progress with the website and other matters.

I would also like to take this time to express my gratitude to the members who have already come fourth to help, its has only been a couple of days but yet I can already see the seawolves starting to rally behind an idea
.

Will you re-activate the Shadow Knights?

STAT was elite on it own, we were the best. The Shadow Knights represented the top 5% of those elite making them untouchable. I always thought that I was a good gamer and that I could hold my own in a game of Ghost Recon but I never stood a chance against the Knights. Right now I cannot give a definitive yes or no answer as we are not at a point to throw the doors open and mass recruit. Although I will say this , if when the time comes we can find the players of such a high standard as the Shadow Knights were, it would be a hard proposition to turn down.

STAT is famous for team killing, sometimes against squads that were larger than the STAT squad. Will you have any special operations to show the new and old members how a STAT squad can live and kill at will?

Working together as a team has always been a necessary function when playing games in STAT. Unlike games in our Navy Division where most of the time you have to think and act for yourself in order to survive STAT games have always been harsh on what would be known as the "Lone Wolf". If you cant think like a team, then divided you will all fall 1 by 1. If you think as a Team and fail, at least you have fallen together; but when it works and I mean when things really "click" you become a serious force to be dealt with. STAT will eventually have what I call "away games" essentially accepting challenges from all comers and taking it to them either on there servers or ours. This allows our members to fight against real world enemies and not their buddies in seawolves. This has a profound effect of making people Gel as a unit because there is something on the line...pride. The operations will prepare members for the ultimate challenge...WAR. When war comes and our members have continuously played against real world opponents you can bet that the ground battles will be won.

In the beginning of STAT, they used the SSN ranks system. How will the STAT ranks work?

Yes, in the beginning it was a Navy style ranking system. I remember that quite clearly. Although that being said we will continue to use the Army ranking system for our members. Its familiar and STAT used it for many years as did the late Virtual Army. Quite frankly I dont know if I would look all that good in an Admirals uniform anyway :)

What would you tell a player who is thinking of joining STAT. What is the career path in STAT?

Like I said earlier STAT is a work in progress, we will endeavour to provide the best experience possible for anyone who wishes to join.At the moment we need people willing to help, I want to bring STAT back to its former glory. Some of you may remember how big STAT actually was at one point. We were the `big dogs``. You couldn't help but notice how much we actually played, some months our scores were unbelievably high and we filled the room during meeting time on MIRC to hear those scores. If your thinking of joining, dont join just to help, join to have fun, that is something that we can provide especially with a new set of games that STAT is ready to introduce when our administrative work is complete. STAT will not be just a place to play, it will be an experience that you will want to be a part of.

Your Career Path is something you need to decide for yourself, what do you want to be? If you just want to play and have fun you can still have a prosperous career and I invite you to check us out once we are prepared to go. If you want to command then you need to help and be involved from day one in order familiarize yourself with the daily ins and out of STAT. In STAT you decide your path and have alot of fun doing it. I invite you all to consider yourself as potential STAT members. When I release the new set of games we will support I hope one of them interests you and maybe you can try us out.

At STAT the motto has and always will be " The Best of the Best"

Thanks very much sir.

Gentlemen of the 1st Fleet,
We are in need of a fleet name and logo. It has tradionally been the Fleet Commander who decides this, However I propose that since in is our fleet this is a decision we can all make together. So here is what I propose. Come up with a name and logo and present it to me. We then after the close of all the inputs decide on the best choice. We will go until the end of September for inputs. At that time it will be decided. If no inputs are sent in by then in a formal email then I will be forced to choose the name and logo for the fleet. Then we will be stuck with that. Remember this isn't just my fleet it's all of us together that make it work.

"There was a cafe across the highway from the MAB entrance that some of us visited occasionally when we wanted an alternative to mess hall food. One day I ordered a hamburger and told the waitree to "cut the onions." In Texas that means don't put onions on the burger. What the waitress brought me was a hamburger with the onions shredded like cole slaw!"   - L.F., Class 57-A, 1955-56 .... full story here
