Recently i was given a link to the vbs2 lite game from ADM Homer, via BG Firefox via Gen Mudd and downloaded it and its an ok program. But the real gold in the ground in that article wasnt VBS2 lite but a small link for "Tunngle" that i followed thinking what is Tunngle.

Tunngle is a peer 2 peer virtual private network program that is able to operation PC ip based games on a lan situation. This program does what hamachi used to do but takes it to the next level. It has its own messaging system, file transfer, chat function, mini firewall, friends list, game bookmarks, etc as some of its main features, Currently running in beta it will accept from 1-255 users . It also has the potential for clan owned networks. If anyone is interested to test this app then let me know.

Links to the site are :

http://www.tunngle.net/
http://www.tunngle.net/downloads/
http://www.tunngle.net/forum/

It uses network port UDP 11155-11155

This app could be used for games like FSX which can be unstable via third parties like gamespy or ubi.com and eliminate as much as possible constant dropping and then would leave only the program or the instability of the program itself that would cause it to drop.

Ive put together an information package on it. in the notepad provided.
If anyone would be interested in testing this app with me i would be more than happy to assist.

Tunngle Peer 2 Peer VPN (beta) includes premium features as well

Games Tunngle currently supports that seawolves also supports:
- Americas Army
- Americas Army 3

* Own Tunngle-Community
* LAN function for all Network-Games and Programs
its LAN emulation features are very powerful and will work with virtually any game that supports IP based LAN gaming. You can use the Tunngle LAN emulation with virtually any program that has IP based network capabilities. You will never see a complete list of supported programs/games because it would be too long. Everything can work with Tunngle.

* Public Networks with up to 255 slots
One game, one (or more if needed) huge network where all the players from around the world can gather and play online. It's amazingly simple but yet very innovative.
* Private Basic Networks
Create 1 Basic Network for up to 32 Tunnglers. Your nickname will automatically be the network name while you will be able to choose the password in order to control who your guests are.
Basic Networks aren't shown in the Tunngle Browser and aren't included in the Tunngle Network Search.
A Basic network will be deleted when the last online Tunngler leaves.
It is always possible to recreate the network after it is deleted. Your Basic private network always comes with one reserved slot just for you. Private networks are intended to be an integration of our powerful Public Network-Clan Network program. This is the reason why they won't show up in the network browser.
* Personal Tunngle nickname
* Integrated Messenger
Tunngle integrates a cool messenger that gives you the ability to:
- Create and maintain a buddy list
- Check the on-line state of your friends in real time
- Chat with your buddies over the private direct-chat
- Share media with your friends (Tunngle Shares)
The integrated blacklist protects you against uninvited guests.
* Chat function
Every network comes with a fully functional chat which you can use to communicate with every Tunngler active on that very same network. This chat is a powerful tool to arrange matches or to make small talk. Bigger networks without LAN functionalities, like the Lobby, can be used for more general chat sessions (for example if you are searching players for a certain game or want to talk about the weather :D). The integrated blacklist will help you keep annoyances at bay. You have the power to decide between chat-only ban or full ban.
Using a basic account your current nickname and your username are identical.
* Highest possible gaming performance [more]
Tunngle uses its own network protocol separate to microsoft for all the data transfer. This protocol is extremely fast and secure. Our main focus has been on reliability and performance during all the development stages. We intend to keep it this way.
* Network Browser
Find the right network for your game with just one click using the integrated full-text network search. The Tunngle network browser allows you to know exactly what's going on in the Tunngle world.
Get a quick overview of all the public networks ordered by genre and know instantaneously where people are gathering.
The C-Class (or B-Class) Emulator, that is active in many Tunngle networks, is indeed a great asset when it comes to gaming. As a matter of fact, a consistent number of games need a special IP range in order to establish a successful Local Area Network connection. This can often be the source of countless headaches during the preparation of the match, because of the bothering Class C/B errors popping all around.

With Tunngle you can forget about these headaches! Tunngle automatically enforces the Class C/B Network type by emulating the required IP range. While you retain your current IP, all the other peers in the network will "receive" a different IP address compatible with yours. This ensures that you can easily create and join LAN games even with the most stubborn games.
* Network Favorites
Do you love playing a certain game? Gaming time is precious? You can add a network bookmark for an even quicker selection of your preferred networks.
* Tunngle-Shares
Tunngle-Shares is a cool feature of the Tunngle integrated messenger that allows secure file transfers via an highly encrypted proprietary protocol. Tunngle Shares includes a tight permission control that allows each Tunngler to choose the shared folders and assign the access rights. The embedded download manager supports resuming of aborted/incomplete downloads. Tunngle uses its own protocol and its own rights management system and is designed to be totally independent of Windows file sharing.
* Tunngle-Friends FollowMe
With the Tunngle FollowMe option you can jump directly to your friends into the networks.
No need to waste your time with searching
* Dynamic Tunngle IP
Each Tunngle Basic client receives a dynamic Tunngle IP upon Login. This IP is refreshed every time one logs in.
* Mini-Firewall
The Tunngle integrated Mini-Firewall protects the Tunngler from the serious attacks that otherwise would be possible in a normal LAN environment;
- Only connections above port 1024 are permitted. This means that there is no access to critical Windows system services.
- Only use of ICMP, UDP and TCP protocol on IPv4 basis.
In the Basic version this ports are always close. You can add exceptions in the Premium version.
* Autojoin
With the auto-join function you can set Tunngle to join a predefined network on startup.
You can also add network bookmarks for a quicker selection of your preferred networks.
* File transfer data compression
Tunngle Shares actively compresses the data that is being transferred. This, where compression is possible, allows faster file transfers and saves your bandwidth for other applications.
* Secure key transfer using RSA 2048bit
Tunngle uses the internationally approved Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
This encryption algorithm won against its competitors in the year 2000 in a competition of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). We are using the highest possible encryption level that this algorithm provides using a key length of 256 bit.
* Full skinable surface
There are no limits for your creativity. You can use the free Almediadev Skinbuilder to create your own skin in the twinkling of an eye and any audio editor to modify the original sounds.
Personalizing Tunngle for yourself, your friends or your clan couldn't be easier. Just fire up the skin builder and unleash your imagination! A seawolves personalised skin could be created by someone with the skills to do that and uploaded to the site for people to select if they want and it could be an indirect recruiting tool.
* Tunngle API
Tunngle API is a really powerful tool for all those programs that need to interact with Tunngle itself. Using this interface, programs and scripts can have Tunngle perform a series of tasks.
For example the API can be used to command Tunngle to jump in and out from networks. The Tunngle API works via a Launcher DLL. In addition, parameters can be passed to the new Tunngle auxiliary process (Launcher EXE). This Launcher is also used to operate the Tunngle protocol that allows the execution of predefined actions from any web page using normal HTML links.

Current range of functions:
- Start Tunngle
- Close Tunngle
- Minimize to tray
- User Login
- Join Network
- Request own IP, nickname and network
- List all users and virtual IPs of a network

TUNNGLE PREMIUM ** (not yet available)

* All BASIC features included!

* Private Premium Networks
* Clan-Networks
* Modifiable Tunngle-Nickname
* Traffic-Controller
* Configurable Mini-Firewall
* Tunngle-DNS [more]

FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the capacity limits of the networks?

ANSWERS
How does Tunngle actually handle the traffic generated by my programs? Are my data transferred through the Tunngle servers? What protection is in place to ensure the safety of my data?

Tunngle is a pure peer to peer Virtual Private Networking solution: as the name suggests, client to client data transfers are direct and not a single bit of your data passes through our servers.
Each Tunngle network behave exactly like a normal Local Area Network. This means that broadcasts are sent to all the online clients in the network while unicasts are only sent to the specified recipient.
Our main servers do not relay traffic in any way. They just offer the mediation services that allow the Tunngle clients to reciprocally establish a direct p2p connection, in such a way that it can later be used to play games, chat and do more.
This is possible even through a NAT, so that you can safely use Tunngle behind your router firewall. After a connection has been successfully established, your communication with the other peers is safe, quick and direct since it's not relayed in any way. This system guarantees you the best possible network performance, keeping the pings as low as they can be and taking full advantage of your maximum bandwidth.
Furthermore this method keeps your privacy safe since there can be no data preservation or activity logging. Your privacy matters: all the data transfers are secured using the AES-256 algorithm. The safety of the key exchange is guaranteed by the reliability of the trustworthy RSA 2048 algorithm. The Tunngle networks and chat, whether they be private or not, are thus safe and offer enough anonymity for your data.

Why am i not getting replies on the network chat from the other online Tunnglers?

Tunngle is a gaming oriented VPN solution. What's more important, it really works with games.
This means that if someone does not reply to your messages on the network chat, he's probably having some cool action in a multiplayer game and he can't read your messages in that very moment. Also keep in mind that nicknames that contain the "_Login" string have no chat capability over Tunngle. Communication with these Tunnglers is only possible when using the chat integrated into your games.

I can't find my favorite game in the network list! What can i do?

Of course you can play it. Network names are there just to keep order in the community. This ensures that everybody is able to find the right players for his own games.
If you don't find a specific network you can play your game in a random network (please note that some networks might have the Class C emulator enabled). As long as you and your friends are on the same network the game will work.
Anyway if you find a game that is not listed, it's a good practice to require it in the proper thread on the community forum. Your suggestions are always welcome there.

Can I use the same account to connect different machines? Do I need to install the client on each machine?

In order to use Tunngle on multiple PCs, you need to install the client on each machine and use a different account per each. You can create as many accounts as you want.

Why can't I login into the Tunngle community forum using the browser embedded into the Tunngle client?

The Tunngle browser window takes advantage of the architecture of Internet Explorer. If you can't login, chances are that your internet options do not allow the receptions of cookies.
You should check that cookies are properly allowed in your options. As an alternative, if you don't trust other sites cookies and you still want to be able to login on the Tunngle.net web services, you can add the Tunngle website and forum to the Internet Explorer trusted sites.
If, even after this, you can't login, close Tunngle, start Internet Explorer and delete all the browser cookies. Cookies pose no threat to your PC in terms of software integrity. They can be used to track some of your activities.
For us, privacy and freedom are important. You can trust that Tunngle will never ever use the cookies for other purposes than offering functional services on its websites.
Allowing cookies in IE7/IE8: Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Internet -> Adjust the slide bar in order to accept cookies Adding Tunngle.net to the trust zone in IE7/IE8: Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted sites->Sites->Uncheck require server verification for all sites in this zone->Add "http://www.tunngle.net/" Deleting cookies in IE7/IE8: Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Browsing history -> Delete-> Check cookies -> Delete

I am getting the following message during the login process: "The Tunngle network adapter is not correctly prioritized". What does it mean?

It means that your Tunngle adapter is not on top of the Windows network adapter list. This is often caused by the installation of another network software.
You can find more information about this and other error messages on our support page. Click here to read more.

Can other Tunnglers sneak into my PC to steal my private data? Can they hack my computer?

No. No one can access your sensible data over Tunngle, if you don't let him/her do that. The integrated Tunngle mini firewall will protect you from most of the attacks that are otherwise possible in normal LAN environments (effectively blocking the most vulnerable Microsoft services) and the trustworthy Tunngle encryption will safeguard your privacy.
Of course, if you want to be 100% secure, you must also be mindful of all the other services that are running on your PC. This is usually why running a firewall is a very good idea. Anyway this should be no surprise because it's not different from what you normally need when surfing the web.
Tunngle offers you a secure way to share your files exclusively with the ones you trust. Tunngle Shares allow you to select who can access what. You give the permissions (either to individuals or to groups).
Nobody else will be allowed to see what you are sharing. All the traffic is encrypted using universally trusted encryption algorithms. Nothing is ever logged. We care about your freedom.

A Tunngler is spamming the network chat. What can I do?

Spam can be annoying but the good news is that you can defend from it. You can use the Tunngle Black List to keep irritating guys at bay and you can decide if you want to issue a chat only ban or a full ban.
Keep in mind that a full ban will sever all the communications with the selected Tunngler. For more information about the Tunngle Black List, click here.

A Tunngler is cheating in my game. What can I do about it?

Cheating is not good. Games are supposed to be fair. Luckily you can defend yourself. You can lock your games with a password or issue the little cheater a nice global ban using your Black List. This way you will block all the communications with the selected Tunngler and he won't be able to cheat in your games anymore. For more information about your blacklist, click here.

Is Tunngle really free? Is Tunngle going to be free?

Yes Tunngle is 100% free and always will be! During the beta phase you will experience all the Tunngle features for free. When the beta phase will be over, your beta account will automatically be converted into a Tunngle Basic Account and you will continue your 100% free Tunngle experience.
Yes, your heard that right, there are no hidden tricks, Tunngle Basic accounts will always be 100% free! Tunngle Basic Accounts are not a joke. You will be able to play any game you like, use your messenger and enjoy your Tunngle experience.
If then you'll choose to try the full power of Tunngle, you will always have the option to upgrade to a Tunngle Premium Account. Tunngle Premium Accounts unleash the full potential of Tunngle for a very modest price: these accounts are intended for those users that want to have an hardcore Tunngle experience and support Tunngle at the same time.
Getting a Tunngle premium account unlocks all the premium features that you can read on our features page. Keep in mind that the Premium Features list is going to be updated as more and more new premium features are added to Tunngle.
What will never change is our promise to keep the Tunngle Basic Accounts always feature packed and free.

Can i post suggestions? Can i propose new functions? What about new networks?

Of course you can! Tunngle is always open to suggestions. You can post advices and requests on the Tunngle Community forum. You can also find there the proper topic to require a new network. Your contribution is precious and we always do our best to implement most of the community suggestions in the new Tunngle releases.
It's no secret that our community has already contributed much in determining the Tunngle present state. We are very thankful to all our great supporters for their important contribution.

I am having some problems with the Tunngle client. Who can help me?

If you are having problems with your Tunngle client, the first thing to do is checking the Support section of the Tunngle Website (you can find it here). There you will find some precious information about the most common troubleshooting issues.
If you can't find your answer there, then the Tunngle Community Forum is your place. On the forums you will find the support of the whole Tunngle Community and all the help of the developer team.
When you post about your problem try to determine which one is the best thread for your post and try to describe exhaustively the trouble you are experiencing. When you solved your problem, it's a good practice to report the solution on the forum.
This way all the community will benefit from this new piece of knowledge. Click here to go to the Tunngle Community Forum.

I've forgotten my password and now I can't login. What can i do?

If you forgot your user password and you still remember your account password, you can still access your account on the Tunngle website and reset your user password.
If you forgot both of your passwords, don't panic. You can use the email address you provided upon registration to reset your account password. To do this, go to the Account section of the Tunngle website, click "Forgot your password?" and provide the right email address.
You will then receive the instructions directly in your email inbox. Click here to go to the account page.

What if i am connected to the Internet through a router? Can I still use Tunngle?

Yeah of course! Tunngle is designed to connect people even through routers. For this reason Tunngle will work out of the box with a great number of routers. Occasionally, some router models could require some additional configuration in order for Tunngle to work properly.
If this is your case, don't panic. We provide step by step guides for a number of router models on our Router Support Page and a general connectivity guide here under Connection help Port forwarding. If you can't find your router model there or don't know how to proceed, don't worry.
There is a short guide that describes how to ask for help for the (still) unknown router models right here on the forum.

What are the capacity limits of the networks?

All the networks can hold a maximum of 255 members. Sometimes, with certain games we need to set a technical limit for the user number. This is related to the game behaviour on the virtual networks.
