Welcome to the SeaWolves Virtual Special Forces Group. Please feel free to review our Rules of Engagement (ROE) completely before submitting your Sign Up Form. Once you submit your Sign Up Form, you are in effect in agreement with all that is stated below. Should you have any questions you would like answered before joining, feel free to contact any one of our officers listed below, or within our membership rosters. Please understand that our ROE is subject to change as new situations arise and are worked out within our organization. Also be aware that this will most likely happen without notice to you. Simply put, once you become a member of the SeaWolves you will be expected to conduct yourself in the manner prescribed in the following paragraphs. You will also be expected to continue conducting yourself in this manner until you formally resign from the SeaWolves.
The first thing you should do is get ICQ and have it installed and ready to use (if you don't already have it). All SeaWolves members utilize ICQ and it's chat capability to form up and organize potential games or missions. All new members should add the following people to their ICQ contact list. These are the Top Dogs in the SeaWolves so give them your respect. They are accessible and available when they are on line, but once again, we ask you to utilize the chain of command when it comes to SeaWolves. All of our of Top Officers are involved in the maintenance of the SeaWolves website and are therefore quite busy.
As a member of the SeaWolves organization you are allowed to belong to other Virtual Delta Force Groups but in doing so you are not eligible for any command or staff positions. This will also become a difficulty should we declare 'WAR' on another Virtual Delta Force Group. We do not want our members caught in the middle. If you are currently a member of another virtual Special Forces group, please notify a TO or your CTG. You may be asked to enter a chat so that SeaWolves policy on such matters can be reiterated for you. All SeaWolves downloadable files are considered SeaWolves property and are not to be disseminated to other virtual squads, clans, or groups. Doing so is grounds for dismissal from the SeaWolves organization.
You shall display your ICQ name with regular, non-Hex characters. Rank should be displayed in capital case (ex. SA, SW, PO3 and so on..), your name as it is when you signed up or abbreviated if you can't fit everything, and your squad and offices held should follow. For example, if your rank was SeaWolf Apprentice and you signed up with your name looking like Billy and you were assigned to the 1st squad, you should display your name as SA Billy 1st SWSF. There should be no symbols or anything besides this.
You must display your name followed by SWSF or SF for short if not enough room.
Your first assignment is to begin your SWSF School training which requires you to fulfill a number of requirements that will be outlined in detail by the Chief Training Department (CTO), his/her Training Group Commander's (CTG) and the supporting Training Officer (TO). Once you have completed your training to the satisfaction of the CTO or DCTO you will be assigned to the Reserved Squad until you are assigned to a regular SWSF Squad. If you are unhappy with your assignment you may put in for a Squad transfer through the Chain of Command. Be advised! You may not always be able to get the Squad that you want but be patient! It may just open up.
All Sign Up Forms are processed by our Chief Training Officer (CTO) then routed to one of our four CTG's. Should you have any questions upon entering SWSF School, please direct them to any of our TO's or your CTG. Our Chain of Command is there for a reason and we ask that you use it.
Please, before you go asking other members how to play via the Internet, please read the VCNO's Step by Step Guide to Delta Force Internet Play. This will answer most, if not all of your questions. If you still have questions feel free to ask a fellow member of the SeaWolves. Remember ALL SeaWolves must go through Q-School in order to become Active members. All SeaWolves members are required to install the "upgrade" provided by Nova Logic. This patch allows for you to connect to the Internet and play. The host of the game is normally decided by one simple factor… who has the best and fastest computer for the job. In the end the senior ranking officer in the game will make the final call. Each player is required to file his/her own report at his or her respective Squad’s reporting page.
The main way SeaWolves communicate with each other for organizing and starting games is via ICQ. The SeaWolves also do not allow two members to have the same call sign (ICQ Nick Names). This obviously would lead to confusion in the area of the records and scores of personnel involved and also at the Score Card Page. It's first come, first served unless you can convince the other guy to give his up =). Your name and call sign should be added to the SeaWolves SeaWolf Recruit page within 1 week from the date you submitted your sign up form. Check back at the SeaWolves site to see that you have been added to the SeaWolf Recruit Officer's (SR) list. At this time go ahead and add all Training Officers to your ICQ contact list if you haven't already done so. You must play at least 2 games of Delta Force online (win or lose) with any TO, plus learn the basic outline of the SeaWolves Training Manual and Code of Conduct. Once again, assignment to a Squad can only take place after these requirements are met. Take the time to enter the ICQ UIN's of all SeaWolves members. Not only will this help you in getting into a game; it will also broaden the player base from which you will learn. There are some very good players out there and you do not want to miss any opportunities to learn from them. It is a good idea to have and use a different ICQ UIN for SeaWolves Special Forces online play. This way you will not get your 688I, Fleet Command, or any other group contacts mixed in with your SWSF contacts, thus minimizing disturbances while you play. When not playing Delta Force simply switch ICQ to your other ICQ UIN. Just make sure the ICQ UIN you plan to use for SWSF play is the one listed on the Members roster. If it is not please e-mail the proper information to CNO-SWSF and be sure to follow up on it.
After you have graduated SWSF (Q) School and are assigned to a Squad make sure to add your Squad's number at the end of your ICQ nick, (e.g.: 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc). Also, please put the proper abbreviation of your rank (All ranks are to be in CAPITAL LETTERING) in front of your ICQ nick (e.g. SR, SA, SW, PO3, PO2, PO1, CPO, SCPO, MCPO, MCPOS, WO1, WO2, WO3, WO4, ENS, LTJG, LT, LCDR, CDR, and CAPT). Check the Ranks page if you are unclear about the proper abbreviation for your rank.
VERY IMPORTANT: Members of the SeaWolves ARE NOT TO SEND ANY MASS MESSAGES to other SeaWolves members. This includes the false "ICQ is going pay" messages, and "Send this to everyone on your list". Also the most recent one is that ICQ has "tagged" a message with some sort of special code. Not true what so ever. The order is... NO MASS MESSAGES.
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: SWSF members are to turn off their ICQ, or any other instant messenger services they have running, while playing in a game of Delta Force. This will help reduce the amount of lag that you and others experience in a game. There are also several steps that you can take to insure the best overall connections:
This should help! Since having ICQ off will mean that you can not leave a message in ICQ to tell possible players that there is a game on your IP, we also have Ventrilo voice server for the SeaWolves. Please get all the information from a TO to set up Ventrilo while in training. You can leave a game IP or game name in your comment on Ventrilo to let others know where you are playing. Remember to show respect while using the Ventrilo server and do not curse in any game channel on there, as we have some younger members and members who do not like to hear cursing. If you're looking for a more lax channel in which a slip of the tongue or where there is cursing, try one of the many bars or tavern channels that we have, but only enter them at your own discretion as you may well hear cursing in there.
During match-ups and multi-player games in which the outcome will be reported for scoring, no member is allowed to use cheats. Cheats are defined as any of the Delta Force cheats contained within the game. Such as glitching and resetgames. If you spawn into a glitch or fall into a glitch, you should frag yourself or leave the game immediately. Reporting a mission in which you were killing from a glitch is considered cheating! Also the use of a added Trainer which gives unlimited ammo, god mode, or any other form of cheat will not be tolerated. Any use of cheats is grounds for disciplinary action from the SeaWolves organization. If a player continues to cheat in a glitch during game play then please contact your Squad Leader and they will report it to the proper Office.
All requests for an investigation involving JAG must be sent up the proper means of Chain of Command. The CNO-SWSF will make the final decision on whether JAG should be called in for investigation. This applies to all matters.
UPDATED 12/02/02:
Cheating is defined as taking an unfair advantage
over others above normal game play.
UPDATED 06/14/06:
Having your Novalogic account suspended or banned is
grounds for you to be dishonorably discharged from the SWSF and possibly from
SeaWolves, because Nova only does this if you've violated terms of service or
have been caught cheating after they have investigated. If your account is
suspended or banned and you feel you did nothing wrong, you need to contact Nova
and get the matter taken care of in a reasonable amount of time and you need to
let your direct in command know about this so they can send it up the Chain of
Command. Failure to notify your direct in command will be grounds for a
dishonorable discharge from SWSF and possibly the SeaWolves.
The SeaWolves are split up into many "Squads". These Squads act as separate entities within the SeaWolves super-structure. This allows us to have "Squad vs. Squad" engagements within the SeaWolves. Each Squad has a Squad Leader (SL) and a Assistant Squad Leader (ASL). Each Squad also usually has a Squad Operation Officer (SOO) and Squad Communications Officer (SCO). The SL's job is to make sure his/her "squad" remains active and to notify his Squad members of any upcoming SeaWolves events. The ASL acts in support of the SL and aids in training issues of Squad members. The SCO's responsibility is to relay all pertinent messages to Squad members to include SeaWolves posted events. Each Squad should have it's own homepage. Who builds and maintains that particular Squad's homepage is up to the SL of that Squad. Squad SL's have the ability to award certain Ribbons and Medals without the permission of the CNO. Make sure you put your proper Squad number at the end of your ICQ nickname and that you update it if you are transferred to another squad.
You may play with another squad outside of SWSF, complications may arise when and if we have a war game with that other squad. If you do play for another squad outside of SWSF, you may not hold any command positions within SWSF. If you do not report you are playing for another squad and SWSF and you hold a command position then you will be stripped of all command positions and will not get them back until it is confirmed that you play for SWSF only. The reason for this is that it is a conflict of interest, you can think it as spies.
Upon completion of SWSF (Q) School, all SeaWolves members start off at the rank of "SeaWolf Apprentice". The best way to get promoted in the SeaWolves is to just PLAY, PLAY, PLAY, making sure that you file all those Mission Reports. Mission reports play a vital role in determining who gets promoted. They are evaluated on such things as frequency (how often) and performance (how well you played) and time (two (2) weeks in each rank) in grade/rank (TIG). Another way to get promoted is to become a Staff Officer by devoting your free time to help manage the SeaWolves (please note that Staff Officers still do play Delta Force and still must report missions every 30 days). If you are interested in a Staff Position, let your SL know about it and he/she will pass it along. If you wish to play and not hold any positions in the SWSF or SeaWolves you will only be able to gain rank up to NCO level, promotions to Officer ranks are held for those who are helping out in the SWSF or SeaWolves.
If you know of someone that you think should be promoted, please contact your SL via ICQ message or e-mail and let him know about it. Explain in full in the why you think that officer should be promoted. The SL will then contact either the DCNO or the VCNO. If you have any questions about promotions contact your SL. They are the officers that make recommendations to the CINC's and DCNO on which officers get promoted. The ultimate decision on promotion is made by the CNO. For a list of the most recent Promotions in the SeaWolves, please check out the Promotions page.
The highest-ranking person in the SeaWolves is the Admiral (except in times of war in which case it's the Fleet Admiral). Second in command are the Vice Admirals. Followed by Rear Admirals (Upper), Rear Admirals (Lower), Captains, Commanders, Lieutenant Commanders, Lieutenants, Lieutenant Junior Grade, Ensign, Chief Warrant Officer 4, Chief Warrant Officer 3, Chief Warrant Officer 2, Warrant Officer 1, Command Master Chief Petty Officer, Master Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Petty Officer, Chief Petty Officer, Petty Officer 1st Class, Petty Officer 2nd Class, Petty Officer 3rd Class, SeaWolf, and finally SeaWolf Apprentice. The ranks of Rear Admiral (Upper/Lower) and Captain are usually held for Squad Leaders and CINC's. For more information check out the Ranks Page. Make sure to put the proper rank abbreviation in front of your ICQ nick, and that you update it ONLY if you’re rank on the SeaWolves webpage changes. We ask that all members show the proper courtesy towards higher-ranking officers. Like begets like and respect works in the same way.
During tournament play members will be able to receive Ribbons and Medals. Their Squad Leader may award some Ribbons and Medals to Officers of the SeaWolves while others (such as the Medal of Honor) must be awarded by the CNO-SW. Check out the Awards Page for more details.
Upon completion of SWSF (Q) School Training, you'll be assigned to the Reserved Squad until assigned to a regular Squad. If you'd like to be placed into a certain Squad you can request that but if that Squad is already full you'll be placed into another Squad. If you are unhappy with the squad you are in, then you may request a Squad Transfer. Your request will be reviewed and either granted or denied. All squad transfers are handled by the Personnel Department through the CoC. Please note that in order to submit a Squad Transfer Request you must be an active member of the SeaWolves who is currently listed on one of the squad pages. Inactive members can not put in for Squad Transfers. Squad Transfer requests may go unanswered if the squad you are asking to be transferred to is already full. Make it a point to check things out first so as not to waste your time. You may only request to be transferred to a squad that is not currently full.
If you will be unable to play Delta Force and report with the SeaWolves for any extended amount of time (excess of 30 days) please send that information to your SL and submit a LOA notification. LOA must be minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 90 days, and a ELOA is for minimum 90 days to a maximum of 180 days. We do allow even longer in extreme circumstances such as medical or military leave, please let the CoC know if this is the case when putting in for ELOA. When returning from LOA or ELOA please notify the CoC (the SL or ASL from the Squad which you left from) and he/she will forward this up the CoC for review. Upon return you must file a mission report within 72 hours of being placed back active, failure to do so could cause you to be placed inactive. If any member goes AWOL (Absence without leave) it can cause major problems for those that need to account for your presence. If a member must go on short notice, please email and explain to your Squad Leader as soon as you get back. Remember to exercise common courtesy and respect for your fellow players. If after 90 days on a LOA or 180 days on a ELOA, and we do not hear from you, you can be deleted from the SeaWolves pages without notice and loose everything you've worked for. So if taking a leave from the SeaWolves, please keep in contact so this doesn't happen to you. Also remember if you take a LOA or ELOA in one division of the SeaWolves, you also take the LOA or ELOA in every division of the SeaWolves that you belong too.
If we haven't heard from you since you submitted your signup form, we will probably email you (approximately 1 month later) and request that you get in contact with your SL. If you just mistyped your e-mail address or UIN# please let your SL know ASAP. This also applies to members who wish to 'fix' or update their info on the Members page. You MUST HAVE ICQ in order to be an active member of the SeaWolves. If you fail to submit mission reports AND we do not hear from you for an extended period of time you will be placed on the Inactive List or AWOL List at which point your squad position will be available for assignment. Once placed on inactive or AWOL, you need to contact the CoC if you wish to come back to active status. If you're placed inactive or AWOL and haven't made a mission report or contacted your CoC in over 90 days, most likely you'll be deleted from the pages and loose everything including awards, rank, and possibly even your name if somebody else signed up with it. If you decide to come back at a later date, you'll have to sign up again and start over from Q School at the rank of SR.
After each multi-player mission please be sure that you report the mission by filling out the "Mission Report". On each Squad Score Card there is a Mission Report form. You are responsible for reporting your own mission results. The Score Cards are updated once a week (on average). You can see the scores on the Score Page (SP). New members to the SeaWolves will be added to the SP on the first SP update after they join, but may start filling out Mission Reports as soon as they are added to the members roster page. If there is a problem with your statistics on the SP please contact your SL. Each Squad of the SeaWolves may operate their own independent ladder system provided that it does not interfere with another Squad’s ladder systems or any SeaWolves War Games.
To be added at a later date.
Please note that if you should decide to leave and start a new fleet or join another that you will be promptly removed from the SeaWolves Members page. Please send your resignation to your SL with Resignation as subject. If you are considering resignation, due to a conflict of interest or problem, please tell your Squad Leader. Also, if you are considering resigning due to lack of time to play, please indicate so. What we want to avoid is the having to chase down any members to clarify their status. Once your resignation has been granted check back to make sure your name has been removed from the SeaWolves page. Should you be contacted by a member of SeaWolves (via email or ICQ), kindly ask them to remove you from their ICQ contact list and/or their email list.
1. There needs to be a clean JAG record at the time of
retirement.
2. There can be no legal proceeding going on against the
retiree from any division.
3. A minimum of 3 years service in one
division.
4. Must have served in the COC at some position. (Squad
positions of ASL and SL,or a Staff position, for a combined minimum of 6 months
consecutively.)
5. When approved by the COC, he/she is to be placed in a
retired squad. If he/she wants to come out of retirement in the future that
person will return at same rank and standing, and be placed in a squad where
needed. Positions are not held for the retirement and will be filled as
needed.
6. Retiring from one division will not exclude that person from
playing in any other division.
Example: If you are playing 688i (SVN)
and Ghost Recon (STAT). You like them both. Now no one else is playing 688i
anymore, why should retiring from SVN exclude that person form playing in STAT?
We do not want people to leave all divisions because they do like the games that
are now active in another division they have been in for over 3 years. Why
should we punish that person by making him resign from SVN or even worst leave
Seawolves? Maybe at a later date there will be another game in SVN he will like
and want to return to contribute to SVN. This holds true for all divisions of
the SeaWolves, SVN, SWSF, STAT, AW, and SWMC.
7. Must have shown
commitment to the division, their duties, and the SeaWolves in
general.
8. If after a year (1 year) of retirement, and no contact
has been made, the records will be deleted from the pages.
9. A
retirement must be for a minimum of 6 plus months, and if you come out of
retirement a minimum of 3 years is required before being able to put in for
retirement again.
10. If you come out of retirement you must report a
mission within 72 hours (3 days) or be placed inactive.
